The Console

Table of Contents

The Console window is the first window that JPriseMerge will display after it is launched. This window displays some statistics about the GEDCOM files that it is using for is base and change source files, the state of the project, and the users license status. In addition, this window will display an icon and some additional statistical information about background tasks which are started and stopped while JPriseMerge is running. This is displayed simply for the users convenience to help understand when and why JPriseMerge is busy accomplishing some internal task.

For the users convenience, the Console window also has the complete set of tool bar menus needs to configure and control JPriseMerge. This same tool bar menu appears at the top of all JPriseMerge windows.

While JPriseMerge is in its tutorial mode, a button will appear at the bottom of this window that the user can interact with while going through the tutorials. This button will advance the tutorial from one stage to the next.

Eventually, JPrise Inc. also plans to use this window for other purposes, such as displaying internal messages that instrument and show information about program events as they occur, for debugging purposes. (These same messages can now be found in an external log file in the JPriseMerge directory.) For the most part, the console window will not be of much importance to the user while using JPriseMerge, and it is best to just minimize it. IF YOU KILL THE CONSOLE WINDOW, I.E. CLICK ON THE X IN THE UPPER RIGHT, THAT WILL COMPLETEY STOP AND EXIT JPriseMerge.
